He granted a charter of the Church of St MATHULNOTH and the Mill and lands of GOCHILSTOWN to St ANDREWS for his soul's repose, and that of AGNES, his wife."

In 1014, mention is made of Donald, Earl of Mar (1), slain at battle of Clontarf in Ireland fighting the Danes.
Followed by his son Rotheri, Earl of Mar (1st or 2nd) between 1114-1131.
Rotheri/Rothri is named in the charter founding the Abbey of Scone 1114-5. He also witnessed DAVID I's charter to Dunfermline Abbey 1124-29.
He was followed by his son Marugund/Morgund, Earl of Mar (2nd or 3rd) in the reign of King David I and Malcolm IV. He witnessed, ante 1152, a charter of DAVID I to Dunfermline and bestowed the church of Tarland upon the Priory of St Andrews between 1165 and 1177. Dispossessed of earldom, restored by King William the Lion.
Succeeded as Earl of Mar by his son Gilchrist (3/4), then by his second son Duncan (4/5).
